Four men, three of them policemen, have been detained for allegedly robbing a goldsmith in Wakaf Tapai.
The suspects had allegedly used a .38 revolver, which had been reported stolen during the Penanti by-election in Penang three years ago.
Terengganu police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Jamshah Mustapa said the pistol was obtained from a policemen based at the Police Academy in Kuala Lumpur.
He said the discovery was made after one of the policemen, who is from Hulu Terengganu, was nabbed for his alleged involvement in the goldsmith shop heist on Nov 28.
SAC Jamshah said the 29-year-old policeman was detained at his home in Hulu Terengganu on Nov 29.
“The arrest led police to his two accomplices. The duo, aged 33 and 29, were detained at the academy on Nov 30.
